Freshie Night 2011

Logistics: BYOB, Drinks and Snacks, informal discussion
Location: Large hall, capable of accomodating 100 people
Expenses: Alumni body covered the shortfall between the collection and consumtion, which amounted to  INR3000.

Objective: To welcome the new joiners in the city from IITB to interact with the Alumni community in the city and get engaged on the Alumni activities and possibly leverage the available strong pool of 2500+ Alum in bangalore.

Evening was attended by close to 60 people with a good (3:2) mix of 2011 passouts vs seniors. Apart from active fun filled interaction between freshers and alumnis, which was an excellent ice breaker, evening had small talks by IITBAA detaling out the activites done by IITBAA in bangalore and areas where freshers can engage. Diverse background of senior alumnis, ranging from NGO/Entrepreuners/Recruiters/Designers/Professors/VC/Govt/IT Professionals gave the freshers a good feel of the networking pool available in Bangalore. We also had  Prof Issac from CSE, (June-1961 to 2001)  along with his wife joining us the senior most Alumni in the group.

A active participation from the batch of 2010 also helped in ensuring the continuity in freshers transformation to alumnis. Some of the feedbacks recieved post event included

"True! Its doesn't matter where IIT-B fraternity meets. Its the people that make it "A Ball of a time" Had a great time yesterday hanging out with Alumni and freshies like me. Rahul, thanks for organizing. Lets keep it going. Some of us have decided to send an invite over FB page whenever we decide to meetup for a friday night. Watch it closely."
